Coming up to the two week mark, I can confidently say that moving abroad has been worth it.
Yes, it is early days and it was a tough few weeks finding an apartment but overall I am feeling the benefits of this beautiful city.
[If anyone read my last post about our travelling story, we managed to get the passport back and another flight booked. There were also complications with this though and that flight got cancelled. After 50 hours of travelling (including delays) we made it].
Everyone is friendly to speak to and welcoming and the opportunities are endless.
I have learned if you are willing to put the energy and effort into this new life, it definitely pays off.
I have yet to find out what the work life balance is like here in Australia, however, I already have a good feeling about it all.
For anyone, like me, who was at home (Scotland) and was struggling to find a teaching post, then this might be the answer for you. It may be another country or you are happy where you are.
These are all the right answer.
I was happy in Scotland and I feel as though some people assume you move country because you aren’t happy.
There were many reasons why I moved to Australia which I will discuss in another post but the main one was for the job opportunity.
I knew that I would need to wait a few years before getting a permanent post anywhere and the supply list was/is slim. I know that this tends to pick up overtime but…
1. I knew I wouldn’t want to go into anything else while I waited and,
2. The thought of having a permanent post when I am only 23, scared me a little.
Growing up I was always one for falling into my imagination in books and those stories that I read made me want to make parts of them my reality.
Exploring new places, for example.
Falling in love…
Living each day in the moment and just enjoying life.
I just seek adventure right now and that is okay.
In the next posts I will share some of the things we have been up to, any recommendations I have.
Speak soon ~ C
